Default Venza Car Alarm Problem

I have a 2009 Venza v6 awd; my car alarm keeps going off for no apparent reason. Has anyone else experienced this issue, or has been able to resolve it? My car dealer does not seem to know what to do. Thanks.

I have to confess I frequent 3 Venza "boards" daily for info etc. One of the posters on the Toyotonation site has gone through a similar problem with their Venza. The poster figured out that the trunk latch was triggering it and if the trunk was manually closed the alarm did not go off. After visiting the dealer it was determined that "...its a electrical defect in the engine hood latch..." Apparently replacement part has been ordered. I hope this helps.

it appears the hood interlock part of the security system could be defective...... as posted in another forum..... might be worth a check...

We have exactly the same problem with our 2009 Venza V6 AWD. The alarm goes off e.g. 3 times in a matter of a few hours, and than there may be no problems for a few days. We had it in to 2 different Toyota dealers for a total of 3 service calls ( one is 1 hour away from our house, the other 2 hours)Once they changed a switch for the hood, but the problem goes on, and it is very embarrassing, not only for me who has to run to the car to disarm the alarm, but also for Toyota.
Toyota now wants us to bring the car there again for at least a day and rent a car for the time being. The car has 15 K miles on it.
I am about to go and trade in the car for something more reliable, replace my pick up truck with a Chevy instead of the Toyota Tundra I really wanted, and call the Toyota detour (from Audi Quatro A6) a bad mistake.

BEFORE you go that far - try calling the 800# and get a case opend and have them contact the original dealer. FWIW - they should give you a rental if they keep it over night. Changing a potential defective interlock switch is cheap and simple to tet he theory.

If this is the only problem you've encountered, it may be worth working to a resolution vs. taking a major hit on the trade-in value...... especially if it is a simple fix once they get to it...
