Unhappy Poor Fuel Economy - V6 AWD

Hi Experts,

I bought a used 09 Toyota Venza , V6 AWD a few months ago. Fuel economy was OK in the first couple of months (around 10-11 L/100 km) combined.
Six weeks ago, it had problem of O2 sensor. I drove for a couple of weeks with that problem before I get changed the O2 sensor by a Toyota Dealer. Once that O2 sensor problem appeared, the fuel economy is very bad. The car fuel economy is 14.5 L/100 km (16 mpg) for the last 3 tanks of gas. In one tank of gas, it did only 375 km on average. I know it is a V6 but still this is far away from the expected fuel economy.

I already checked tire pressure which is fine. I am not sure what cause this poor fuel economy. Is it start of Winter here in Canada or the O2 sensor or something else went bad.

I am just wondering if anyone else has this issue or anything I can ask my dealer to check in particular. I am thinking to take it to Toyota dealer for regular service and can ask them to check for this problem.

Thanks in advance,

Hi,
I would ask the dealer to analyze the AFR (air fuel ratio), to see if it is within specs. O2 sensors monitor the exhaust (for proper AFR) and relay it's findings (simplified) to the computer. They (O2s) are pretty hardy so there is, probably, a failure in the fuel system causing an over-rich fuel mix (reducing your MPGs) and killing the O2.
Good Luck!

I have been having poor gas mileage as well. I have a 2010 V6 and cannot seem to get it above 20.5 MPG on the highway. I'll look into the O2 sensor and mixture. Tires are fine.
