Just bought my 4 cyl. Venza a week ago. I'm still on my first tank of gas, but the mileage computer says I'm getting 19-20 MPG. I find this a little disturbing considering probably half my driving is on Interstate. Seems I should be getting closer to the stated combined mileage of 24. Any other 4 cyl. people out there with a similar experience? Also, has anyone figured out how to turn off the seat belt alarm? (and yes I wear my seatbelt, it's just the alarm drives me crazy if I'm a little slow putting it on). Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi lance! I wouldn't hold much stock in those silly computers they never are very accurate. The next time you fill up reset your trip meter and the then when you fill up again divide the miles driven by the number of gallons and that will give you a better idea of your MPG. As for the seatbelt I believe I have what you're looking for and I'll post it in a few.

Good for you. Have you ran into any times you wish you had a little more power? I'm curious because the Venza is a pretty big vehicle, thanks.

I have a 4I FWD and I find that if I drive it anywhere near hard I can watch the gas guage go down, I'm not kidding. The trick is to drive it gently.

I have the 4-cyl AWD and have been amazed at the difference in fuel mileage at different speeds. My miles are all highway and if I drive 75-85 mph, I'm lucky to get 19-20mpg. But...if I drive 65 mph and maintain a good following distance, I can easily average 29-30mpg.

| I have an 09 with the V6 and AWD. The computer is relatively accurate, as I average about 20-21 MPG overall, with 19-20 MPG city and up to 26 MPG hwy. The trick is like others have said: if you have a lead foot around town (and it is fun with the V6 to punch it off the line as it is VERY fast) your MPG will drop considerably. As for the highway, driving anything over about 72 MPH starts to drop the MPG fast. Staying closer to 65 MPH seems to do best, but is hard to do in NC where some highways have 70 MPH limits. I do use synthetic oil and have installed a K&N Air Filter. These two practices have resulted in about 1 MPG higher economy vs. before. Essentially, I can run the A/C now and get the same MPG I got before I started using the filter or synthetic oil. Since my company pays for the oil changes, and the filter was a $44 purchase, it was worth it to me. So, drive slower and use these two secrets to better economy is my suggestion! Libreez

Give it time to break in and loosen up a bit. Some of best gas mileage with precious cars has occurred of 50K miles.

Just finished a day trip on mixed two lane highway (60MPH) and Interstate (70-80MPH). I have a 2010 with the V6 AWD. The tank on the two lane highway was (dash indicated) 24.9 and actual was 25.46. This was a drive thru the Cascade mountains east of Seattle, so it involved foothills, mountain pass, and flat driving conditions. Second tank was on Interstate home again. Have not filled up the tank yet, but indicated is 23.7. This tank was 70 to 75with some 80MPH in spots.

I have averaged 28-29mpg highway on several road trips If you set the cruise at 68 and take it easy it gets pretty decent mileage. There is a huge difference if you drive it hard. 6cyl, fwd
