Hi. I just bought 4 cyl. AWD. Last two cars prior had transmission problems and the one I traded for Venza had tranny blow twice. Needless to say, I am very sensitive to feeling shifts and hanging between gears. Venza seems to loose power when downshiftig until it pops down and then gets a little kick when settling into lower gear..it also seems to hang out inbetween gears and will jump into gear if i then accelerate instead of stop... Anyone else experience this?

So far I have just over 1000 miles and mine has been "shifting smooth".
I have the V6.

I posted something also about shifting gear but only the first one when the car is cool. It's making a rare sound.

Transmission Problems ?

Oh Yea! As I posted in the new members area, I just picked my '09 4-cyl, AWD up from the dealer today. They put in new motor mounts because the transmission was "shuddering" between shifts. This was after two trips to the dealer...first time denying there was a problem.

While this has calmed it down somewhat, the shuddering is still there. I'm taking a somewhat informed guess that perhaps... a Transmission problem that has still yet been addressed...caused the motor mount to break...and will probably happen again.

But as for your symptom, the only time I get a pop or thud, is when I start out from a turning corner... and I have read other reports of this on Edmunds forum.

I have an issue where my Venza has a delay when I first put it in gear. I have brought it to the dealer 4 times and they can't reinact the issue
