Default K&N Filter for VENZA

Has anyone installed a K&N Filter kit on their VENZA? It is available. K&N claims it can raise the HP by nearly 12hp. Would $300 be worth 11+ horse power? I wonder how the engine would sound with the K&N. I wouldn't want to hear it under normal conditions but it would be nice to hear a little roar with the peddle mashed down.

Sounds high to me so I'd wait a while. The guys on my Tundra site got a Volant with a dry Powercore filter that doesn't have to be cleaned or oiled shipped for $250 so I'd be patient. When more manufacturers start making aftermarket parts for the Venza the prices will come down.

I agree with waiting. And, K&N filters are easy to over oil, resulting in fouled MAFs. The location of the cone filter suggests that, despite shielding, it will ingest some warm air. And, it likely will be much more audible.

Another option is the dry (50K before vacuuming out) filter panel from AMSOIL. The performance difference is remarkable, it is quiet, and it pays for itself in no time. Marco

Dry is most definitely the way to go. Is the Amsoil filter the Nano Fiber filter? If so, that's the same type of dry filter as the Volant (Made By Donaldson Corporation) and the type of filters used on the equipment over in Iraq so you know the air is getting filtered. Got a P/N for the Venza from Amsoil?

Actually, since I use AMSOIL products, including filters on my other cars, I may have spoken too early regarding Venza. But, I'm guessing that the Camry and Avalon filters fit. In that case, AMSOIL offers only a WIX filter, 49172. I think you can get a WIX filter at NAPA or most other neighborhood stores. As yet, I don't see the high flow filters for Venza from AMSOIL. I can tell you, though, they outperform K&N, are far safer, and far quieter. I've used both. Marco

I just now have 10,000 miles on my Venza and just installed the K&N replacement filter, I have used K&N on all my vehicles and have never had an issue of over oiling.

Does anyone know where to get the so called "SPECIAL" tool for the oil filter canister?

Hey Randy,

That's an ambitious number for the Venza filter? What are you getting for $300 bucks?

For those wishing to simply change out the filter (only) K&N 's P/N is 33-2326 and is available from the usual neighborhood automotive parts stores, most likely, as a special order.
