Question Planning to buy 2009Venza AWD V6.Price to pay?

I just started looking for a new car and after researching infiniti EX35, Murano, Highlander finally decided to go with Venza. Its very smooth, fun to drive, has lots of space, good mpg and also very good exterior and interior (=lexus) . This is 2009 model year and we sure can't tell how it will be in next 3 yrs but considering Toyota quality , dependability I decided to go for it. The reviews so far have been encouraging. I am single and probably don't need that extra legroom in the backseat and extra cargo space but won't mind having them.
I haven't been able to get much info about how much people are paying. Please post details of your recent purchase with details , MSRP and price you actually paid before taxes so that I will have an idea about where to start when negotiating. So far I have been offered Venza at close to Invoice price. Is that what others have been paying.
I have been offered a Venza V6AWD with Premium package#2, Nav, JBL audio, Panoramic roof, with an MSRP of 39,075 for 34,650 (Any color other than blizzard pearl). Invoice on this as calculated on is 34,300. Do you think its a fair deal. Any suggestions

Welcome to the game (and the party afterward)! First of all, I am a proud owner of a Venza V6 AWD with some of the goodies you are considering (JBL Synthesis system w/Bluetooth and Sat radio, Comfort Pkg (pwr rear door, push button start), tow package, Panoramic Sunroof, and floor mats/cargo mat). I opted not to get the NAV, HID lights, back up camera, or leather, since those options jacked the price towards $39K. My Classic Silver Metallic/Gray Cloth Venza stickered for $33,564.

I engaged several dealers and worked from the TRUE invoice price up. Remember there is a "holdback" and "dealer spiff/advertising" amount that should be subtracted from the "invoice price" that Edmunds and those sites show. Consumer Reports shows that amount if you use their New Car Pricing Service (I did, and it was worth the $14!), and I actually had a dealer GIVE the amount of the spiff/adv (it's less than $300).

So, I got a VIN of a vehicle equipped exactly the way I wanted in the area, and let the dealers fight each other for my business. One wanted $1200 more than a competitor in the same city, and was trying to sell me "packs" like Nitrogen in the tires and worthless wax and protectants on top of that.

In the end, I got my $33,564 Venza for less than $29,600....out the door (with tax, title, and doc fee (profit mostly!) for $31,200...less than $700 over TRUE cost.

Your deal sounds OK, but figure in the holdback and adv fees, and work up from there. I would try for under $34K. Now, if you can do without the leather ($1,400) and the NAV ($1,200) you could get yourself into the lower $30s. Remember, the true price of the options is not the price on the sticker, bargain with the NET costs of the options (also on the CR Price Service printout). That's how you win!

Good luck, and we hope you join us as a fellow Venza owner (who drove a hard bargain and got a good deal!)

Oh yes, skip the pricey accessories. Go online to and get the bumper protector, wheel locks, and cargo net for a fraction of what the dealer wants. I even went to (not cheap at $129, but the best!!) and got the all weather cargo liner even though I have the carpet mats. You want to do this, since without the carpet mat, you have that hard plastic surface in the cargo area and you will hear more road noise. I just put the cargo liner over the carpet mat in the back and it fits perfectly!
V6, AWD, Classic Silver Metallic/Gray Cloth, Panoramic Sunroof, Comfort Pkg, Tow Pkg, JBL Sythesis Sound System, Floor Mats.

Hello ! Im glad to hear you are in the family !!! I love mine and it was worth what I paid. I only wanted the 4cyl with the sunroof so I had to special order it and wait 6 weeks. The sticker with the sunroof was 28,740 and some change. My price was 26,400 and some change. I think what helped was I found a phone number through Consumer Reports that gives you the Exact price they pay, what incentives they receive ( that you will never get from the dealer) and what you should negotiate from. It worked and it saved me money. To find it, go to this link and order a $14.00 report. It is VERY worth the 14 bux

Have a Great Day !!

!! Practice Safe Sound !!
