Default CD player random selection

I just purchased a 2009 Venza and love it (put over 500 miles on it today).

I love my music when driving and so I loaded up the six CD's (I use MP-3's so I can get a large amount). I like to set them up for random play but I seem to be having trouble. The owner's manual says to push the RAND button one time to set the CD on random play and to push and hold the RAND button until it beeps to set random play for all the CD's in the CD player.

All I get is the same CD every time whether I push it one time or if I push it until it beeps.

Am I missing something or is the thing not working right?

Hello ! Try it with regular CD's, not mp3's. If that works, than it may not do the random feature with the data disc's.

Hi,

I'm a little confused. You say you loaded 6 CDs, but also, reference your MP3 player. Which of these 2 outputs, are you saying is not playing in random order?

The CD's are ones I made from my I Tunes library only I recorded them in MP-3 format so I can get up to 175 songs on each disc.

When I load these into my Venza's system I cannot play them randomly. It will only play the discs one a a time. Since I have classical, rock, folk, oldies, etc, on the discs I'd like to be able to move from one genre to another but I can't.

I called the Toyota customer service line and they tell me it should randomize the discs and if it doesn't I should see the dealer. I went to the dealer (actually two dealers) and both referred me to the Toyota customer service line.

So, I am caught in a Toyota loop of sorts.

Try using regular store bought cd's. If the random feature works now, then it is the way the factory cd player works. Some factory players' random feature doesnt work with the "data" cd's (or mp3 formated cd's).

Hope you figure it out !!!!

Spent considerable time at the dealers yesterday.

Tried the MP-3 formatted CD's in other Venzas and none would play the random 'all discs' feature but would play the regular CDs in AIFF or AAC formats.

So it appears that the Panasonic system in the Venza cannot handle disc to disc random play like the systems in our Ford or our Durango can. The Chevy HHR I traded in for the Venza could also randomize these discs.

To me this is a big weakness in the sound system but I will learn to live with it.

I hope this helps
For me random play modes only works for the cd being played, it doesn't jump to another cd
I have nav that only holds 4 cd's (mp3) but the process should be the same
If I press the random button and then release will say rand. What randomly plays is the music in that one folder.
If I press the rand button and hold it down then the display says FLD Rand and the whole disc plays randomly.
Good luck John
